The Four Pillars Gate

八字

What is BaZi?

BaZi (八字, “eight characters”) is a Chinese way of reading a person that is over a thousand years old. It does not predict events. It describes the energies you were born with, like a weather report for your nature, so you can work with them instead of against them.

四柱

The Four Pillars

The moment you were born (your year, month, day, and hour) gives four “pillars.” Each pillar is two characters: one from the sky (a stem) and one from the earth (a branch). Four pillars × two characters = the eight characters that give BaZi its name.

What each pillar speaks of

Traditionally, the Year Pillar speaks of your roots and the world you come from. The Month is your growth: work, parents, formative years. The Day is you yourself. The Hour is your inner world and what you pass on.

門

Your gate opens

Once your birth details are entered, your own four pillars appear on your chart page. Nothing in a chart is good or bad. Every combination carries gifts and growing edges. That is the first and most important lesson.

Read against your own chart, these pages name your own pillars and your own Day Master. That happens in the browser, on your device.
